Return, says the Lord, and I will not remain angry with you; for I am merciful, I will not continue my wrath forever. Return, rebellious children, says the Lord.

This passage from the book of Jeremiah (3:12-13) is a beautiful invitation from God to return to Him with repentant hearts. Despite human sinfulness and rebellion, God's mercy remains steadfast and He desires reconciliation with His people. As Catholics, we can apply this message in several ways:

  1. Embrace the Sacrament of Reconciliation: The Sacrament of Penance is a profound gift where we can confess our sins, receive absolution, and experience God's merciful love. Regular confession helps us turn away from sin and grow closer to the Lord.
  2. Cultivate a spirit of repentance: True repentance involves not only confessing our sins but also a firm resolve to amend our lives and sin no more. We should examine our consciences regularly and strive to turn away from anything that separates us from God.
  3. Trust in God's mercy: No matter how far we may have strayed, God's mercy is always available to us. We should never doubt His willingness to forgive us and welcome us back into His embrace.
  4. Encourage others to return: As ambassadors of Christ, we can share the good news of God's mercy with others who may have fallen away from the faith or feel unworthy of God's love. Our witness and invitation can help them experience the joy of returning to the Lord.

By heeding God's call to return to Him, we open ourselves to the transformative power of His grace and mercy. Let us respond with grateful hearts, confident in the Lord's steadfast love and His desire to reconcile us to Himself.

Jesus loves me. Say it out loud.

Say it again Jesus loves me.

You are never alone. God Bless Brother Philip
