John 7:46 Jesus proclaimed that the Kingdom of God is within you when he healed the paralytic, and with his words he touched on a central theme in Christianity. The Kingdom of God is not a physical kingdom in some far away place, but rather it’s an attitude, a way of living. The Kingdom is within you and it reveals itself to anyone who welcomes Jesus. Works are the way we live out this message in our day-to-day lives - through our actions and deeds for example. The Kingdom of God has burst into your life today because you have welcomed Jesus into yours. The words of the prophets are written on the scroll as a picture of what Jesus is doing in our day. In verse 46, John was writing about what Jesus was doing in his day. As he preached to his people, he told them that the kingdom of God has burst. In this passage from John’s gospel, we see a glimpse into the life of one man who believed that Jesus is alive and at work today just as He was in his day. We also see how important it is for u
Mt 11:2-6; Go back and report to John what you hear and see.  The blind recover their sight, cripples walk, lepers are cured, the deaf hear, dead men are raised to life, the poor have good news preached to them. Blest is the man who finds no stumbling block in me. Those who live in darkness and death’s shadow— light shines on them. "I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father." In this passage, Jesus is speaking about the power of God and his will. Jesus healed people through faith. Always remember Jesus loves me . Say it out loud. Say it again Jesus loves me . You are never alone. God Bless Brother Philip Philip@clevelandbenedictines.org
They had heard what Jesus had done. (MK. 3:7-8) The passage opens with Jesus and his followers journeying to a town. They arrive at the city gate and find that the townspeople are in such a state of unrest that they do not want to let them in. What had happened? The people had heard what Jesus had done! The people learned about what Jesus had done in his ministry. They heard of his healings and the miracles he performed. They saw him cast out demons and they looked at the hungry, desperate people that surrounded him. The expression "they had heard what Jesus had done" means that they had heard about what Jesus was doing. Jesus' fame quickly spread and the people were amazed at his teaching, especially when he healed their sick. They inquired about him from those who were with him. Always remember Jesus loves me . Say it out loud. Say it again Jesus loves me . You are never alone. God Bless Brother Philip Philip@clevelandbenedictines.org
Jn 15:26-27 The Holy Spirit was sent to bear witness to Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit is the one who will bear witness to Jesus Christ. This Holy Spirit is from God and will testify to the things that Jesus has said and done. With this confirmation, people can know that what Christ says is true. The Holy Spirit is a gift from God that people need to have faith in in order for them to be saved. The Holy Spirit is the personification of love, and he came to Earth to bring the love of Jesus to people. He does so while being a witness to Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit helped spread the word about Christ. He also helps people live a life that is pleasing to God. The Holy Spirit helps people know that they are loved and wanted by God, even if they feel lonely or unworthy. The Holy Spirit can also help people be kind in their relationships with others, which can lead them away from sin and towards a life of faith in Christ. The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity and works in tandem
Mk 1:27 A completely new teaching in a spirit of authority!  One of the best ways to teach is through stories. Stories can capture the attentiveness in a way that text cannot. It is a better way to captivate the audience and create an experience for them. Stories are one of the most ancient teaching methods in the history of mankind. The Bible is full of narratives which are intended to teach people what God wants us to know about him, his life and his plan for us; Jesus himself used storytelling as a teaching tool - not only does he tell stories but he also uses parables which are short fictional stories with a moral message at their core. Always remember Jesus loves me . Say it out loud. Say it again Jesus loves me . You are never alone. God Bless Brother Philip Philip@clevelandbenedictines.org
Mk 1:27 He gives orders to unclean spirits and they obey!  The “unclean spirits” are those who have a very powerful and negative influence in people’s lives. When Jesus commands them to leave, there is no uncertainty that they will obey him. In Mark 1:27, Jesus casts out an “unclean spirit” from the man it inhabited and sent it into a herd of pigs. The pigs then ran down a steep bank into the sea and drowned—the perfect example of how someone can be freed from evil by the power of Christ alone. This passage may be the most well-known exorcism in the Bible. Jesus is able to give orders to unclean spirits and they obey – this is a supernatural power that no other mortal has. The passage is written by a man who has seen Jesus perform miracles and he wants to make sure that everyone knows about these miracles. Always remember Jesus loves me . Say it out loud. Say it again Jesus loves me . You are never alone. God Bless Brother Philip Philip@clevelandbenedictines.org
Lk 4:43 To other towns I must announce the good news of the reign of God, because that is why I was sent.  Jesus Christ is the true and everlasting messenger of God. He not only preached the gospel, but also demonstrated it with his life. Luke 4:43-44 states that Jesus was sent to announce the reign of God to other towns and that he came to fulfill his role as a messenger of the good news. This passage illustrates that Jesus did not simply preach about life in heaven or how people should behave, but actually showed people what it looked like by living out this gospel himself. "Good news" is a term we often hear. But few of us know that the "good news" is not just something that we feel good about, but it's actually a message that was sent to us. God has sent his son to us and God loves us so much that he wants to save our souls so he can live in heaven again with us for eternity. And this "good news" is not something that only Christians should be exci
Mt 7:28-29 He taught with authority and not like the scribes.  Jesus says in Matthew 7:28-29 that scribes teach with authority, but not the same authority as he has. The word "scribes" in this passage means "learned men." Jesus is saying that these learned men are teaching with a different authority than his. This scripture teaches us that Jesus did not speak like the scribes. He spoke like the authority. Jesus did not speak with a condescending tone or act superior to anyone. He spoke with authority and demonstrated great respect for everyone he encountered. Always remember Jesus loves me . Say it out loud. Say it again Jesus loves me . You are never alone. Mk1:1; Rom 1:1-30 Jesus Himself, the Good News of God  As the Good News of God, Jesus Himself is the message of God revealed to man. This first section describes how Jesus is the good news of God. He was a fulfillment of what people were waiting for in regards to salvation and life. Jesus Himself is described as the 'message' that was revealed to man, it was so important that they knew that he would be coming and found him when he finally arrived. The opening chapter of Mark’s Gospel presents Jesus, the Messiah, as the fulfillment of Old Testament hope. The opening chapter of Mark’s Gospel presents Jesus, the Messiah, as the fulfillment of Old Testament hope. The Good News proclaimed in Romans is that Jesus Christ has defeated sin and death and has made us alive in Him. God's love for us is revealed in this act of victory by His Son who died for our sins. In today's age where there are so many messages to choose from to find meaning and wisdom, it is easy to become over
1 Jn 3:1 That we should be called children of God; and so we are one.  In the Bible, John tells us that we are children of God and that there is no greater love than to lay down one's life for one's friends. We can be confident that God sacrificed everything for us when we see the beauty of creation and how much He loves each and every single one of us. The Bible is full of examples of people loving others without a second thought about themselves. When we read these passages, we will see how much God loves us unconditionally. These examples should show us the importance of loving others as well. When we look into their eyes, we should see ourselves looking back at ourselves in a way to give care to them as if they were our own child. One of the most common misconceptions about Christianity is that it is for 'perfect' people. In reality, no one is perfect. Christians are not perfect - they are children of God. Children of God have both a sinful nature and a divine natur
1 Jn 3:1 He poured out His love into our hearts.  This passage from I John talks about God's love and how it is poured out to the believers. We love because He first loved us. The Bible tells us that God’s love for us was demonstrated by sending His only begotten Son into the world, who died for our sins. He poured out His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit who lives in us. God’s demonstration of unconditional and passionate love can change a person’s life forever, just as it changed ours. Always remember Jesus loves me . Say it out loud. Say it again Jesus loves me . You are never alone. God Bless Brother Philip Philip@clevelandbenedictines.org
You too are living stones, built as an edifice of spirit, into a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God, through Jesus Christ. This section is about the idea of using the imagination of a human to know what it feels like to be a stone. The idea is that if one imagines themselves as a stone, they will feel more connected to their environment and others. This, in turn, will allow them to live a more spiritual life. The spiritual life is not made up of any one way of living but rather it is made up by embracing all aspects of living. This includes taking care of our personal needs and wants while also caring about the needs and wants of others. Taking care for ourselves isn't selfishness or self-indulgence, but rather an act that encourages us to give back because we have been given so much through the lives we lead. All people are living stones. Our lives and spirits are built as an edifice into a holy priesthood that offers spiritual, emotional, and intelle
2 For 5:20 This makes us ambassadors for Christ, God as it were appealing though us.  This is a call to action for all Christians. We need to take on the responsibility of being ambassadors of Christ in our day to day lives. We also need to be good stewards of the world that God has given us and not use it as we please. The Bible tells us in Colossians 3:23-24, "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters." This verse tells us that we are ambassadors of Christ, His representatives to the people we come in contact with. We have a mission to be Christlike and spread His love wherever we go. This verse also tells us that as Christians, our lives should not be characterized by a spirit of selfishness or self-seeking ambition. Rather, it is our goal to imitate Christ in all that we do and say. Our goal is to serve others and not ourselves. Always remember Jesus loves me . Say it out loud. Say it again Jesus loves me . 1 Cor 2:9  Eye has not seen, ear has not heard, nor has it so much dawned on man what God has prepared for those who love him.  This verse is discussing how the human understanding can never fully comprehend all that God has done, or all that He will do. It is referring to the fact that no one knows what's in store for them on the next day, and therefore we should live our life in a way that glorifies Him. In this passage from 1 Corinthians, Paul says “eye has not seen, ear has not heard, nor has it so much dawned on man what God has prepared”. This means that humans cannot know everything about what God’s work will be like - they are only given glimpses of His work through dreams and visions. This is an example of Paul's rhetoric. He was trying to convince the Corinthians of the reality of the risen Christ. His argument is that human beings are too limited to know what God has in store for them. This would be a good topic for a sermon but it can also be applied to our daily li
1 Cor. 9:23 I do all that I do for the sake of the gospel in the hope of having a share in its blessings.  Paul is a Christian missionary who spends his life spreading the word of Christ to the people in order to lead them to salvation and make them followers of His teaching. He is willing to suffer and sacrifice for this cause, even if it costs him his life. This passage from 1 Corinthians is one of Paul’s famous letters that talk about faith, love, and hope. He also talks about the importance of sharing in Christ’s gospel message that gives meaning and purpose to life. Paul is telling the Corinthians that he does all that he does for the sake of the gospel, in the hope of having a share in its blessings. He is saying that you do not have to be perfect or sinless to be saved. Always remember Jesus loves me . Say it out loud. Say it again Jesus loves me . You are never alone. Jn 15:16 It was not you who chose me, it was I who chose you to go forth and bear fruit. Jesus is with them and wants to lead them to go forth and bear fruit. Christians are called by Jesus to serve God by serving others. They are called to share their faith with others, but also always keep in mind that they are representatives of Christ and that they should act accordingly. This verse is about the mystery of the mission, where everyone has a different life story and we all choose our path in life. But when you come to Jesus, he will make you his own and will never let you go no matter what obstacles stand in your way. Always remember Jesus loves me . Say it out loud. Say it again Jesus loves me . You are never alone. God Bless Brother Philip Philip@clevelandbenedictines.org
Tim 2:4 For He wants all men to be saved and come to know the truth.  The verse is talking about salvation and the truth. This is a reference to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We should not misconstrue this as a literal statement that all men are saved. The verse does not say that all people, but rather “all men” will be saved from sin and come to know the truth. Always remember Jesus loves me . Say it out loud. Say it again Jesus loves me . You are never alone. God Bless Brother Philip Philip@clevelandbenedictines.org
Jn 14:16-17 I will ask the Father and He will give you another Paraclete to be with you always:   Jesus' promise in John 14:16-17 to send the Holy Spirit upon His disciples, which they recognize only at Pentecost, goes beyond a display of divine power. With it Jesus also provides the grace necessary for how to live in the world. Always remember Jesus loves me . Say it out loud. Say it again Jesus loves me . You are never alone. God Bless Brother Philip Philip@clevelandbenedictines.org
Jn 3:16 Yes, God so loved the world that he gave his only Son. If we love one another, if we keep God's commandments, then God abides in us and his love is perfected in us. John claims that if people abide in God's love and do what he commands, then the Father's love will be in them and they will know that he is in them. John 3:16 is a Bible verse which starts with "God so loved the world that he gave his only Son." This verse goes on to say "that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." The verse is a part of the Gospel of John and it was written by John. The context of this verse is the Bible as a whole, or Christian theology as a whole. Finally, this verse does not mention any other religions or beliefs. Always remember Jesus loves me . Say it out loud. Say it again Jesus loves me . You are never alone. St. Benedict's advice remains relevant for the modern world. His advice is: "If you wish to live in peace, do not spread discord; if you want to live in unity, do not let selfishness govern your actions." St Benedict’s words can be applied to many aspects of life such as family and work relationships, or even communal and global relations. His advice was written with humility and acceptance of all people regardless of their social status or ethnicity, which is a view that still needs to be held today. In Christianity, worship is often seen as “the work of the people”. It is what separates Christians from those who do not know Christ. Worship centers Christian life on Jesus Christ because he has been the one to redeem us from our sins. Patience and Humility are two personality traits that help us to be calmer in the face of adversity and more empathetic to others. The world is becoming an increasingly competitive place. This is why it's important for each of us to do w
