John 8:24; That is why I told you that you will die in your sins. For if you do not believe that I AM, you will die in your sins.

This verse can be applied on a societal level if people do not believe in themselves or their purpose in life. This causes them to experience severe pain and sadness because they are living with no hope or without determining their own destiny.

It is not difficult to see that the world suffers from a lack of faith. With so many people turning away from religion and spirituality, one would think that we would see an increase in morality and goodness.

Instead, we have seen the opposite with criminals becoming more brazen and less fearful of consequences. The world is greedy, selfish, and violent. This is why it is so important for Catholics to stand up and show their faith proudly.

There are many sins that people commit every day: Pride, Envy, Lustful Thoughts. It is important to remember sin as we live out our lives everyday because it reminds us to stay humble and always strive for what is right instead of what will make us feel happy or comfortable at that moment in time.

“I AM,” Jesus proclaims to his opponents.

Jesus is not just an ordinary human being. He is the eternal Word of God. He has always existed and has always been God. From all eternity he shares in the life of the one true living God, who is infinite Spirit and perfect love. Yet at other times he takes on our human condition for us, entering into our joys and sorrows as one of us, sharing our humanity yet without sinning or suffering death.

This verse could be interpreted to mean that Jesus has power over sin because he is god and could only be referring to himself when saying “I am”. This could also be interpreted as Jesus telling man that he cannot have his salvation without believing in him because this world is full of sin which leads to death.

Jesus loves me. Say it out loud.

Say it again Jesus loves me.

You are never alone. God Bless Brother Philip
